Frontier Communications' Commitment to Broadband Speed ...

Hundreds of Millions of Dollars of Investments Paying off

Background: Today, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) released results of its 2013 Measuring Broadband America?February report. The report contains the most recent results from the FCC?s Measuring Broadband America program. This program, whose first results were published in August 2011, is an ongoing, rigorous, nationwide study of residential broadband performance in the United States.

WASHINGTON?(BUSINESS WIRE)? Frontier Communications? Corporation (NYSE:FTR, news, filings) commitment to bringing broadband to rural America was amply demonstrated in the FCC?s latest ?Measuring Broadband America? report, released today. The report offers a summary of residential broadband testing of speeds offered by Internet Service Providers (ISPs) across the country. Frontier?s performance was found to have improved 13% over the results in the previous report and was highlighted in the FCC report.

Maggie Wilderotter, Frontier Chairman and CEO said, ?We are gratified that our investment in rural America is paying off in the form of better speeds and network performance for our customers. We will continue to transform Frontier into the nation?s leading provider of broadband with a focus on rural America. I expect nothing less from our nearly 15,000 employees across the country who have been solidly executing on our plan.?

Frontier has invested hundreds of millions of dollars in capital expenditures throughout its 27 state service territories to deploy and improve broadband services. Frontier has met or, in many cases, exceeded commitments made to individual state commissions during a transformative transaction in 2010. The money has been spent to connect once underserved and unserved areas and to relieve internet congestion in many of these areas.

Among the states with the highest broadband turns ups are West Virginia (158,000), Michigan (157,358) and Illinois (101,799). Frontier is keenly aware of the importance of broadband to?rural America. It is an essential part of the economic engine that drives economic development, commerce, education, health care, jobs and more.
